Harvard Is Offended--Again

I was grieved to hear that Harvard has been upset again. This time by Jada Pinkson Smith's thoughtless and insensitive remarks about her life and what she has learned about having a successful relationship with her husband. How much can these poor people take?

More on the story as I understand it:

After some students were offended by Ms. Pinkett Smith's comments at Saturday's Cultural Rhythms show, the Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender, Sexually Sensitive,Religiously-Diverse,Cross-Dressing,Supporters Alliance (BGLTSSRDCDSA) and the Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations have begun working together to increase sensitivity toward issues of sexuality at Harvard.

According to the Foundation's Super-Sensitive and Closed-Minded Student Advisory Committee (SSCMSAC) Co-Chair Yannis M. Paulus '05, the two groups have already planned concrete ways to address the concerns that Pinkett Smith's speech rose.

The BGLTSSRDCDSA release acknowledged that the Foundation was not responsible for Pinkett Smith's comments. But the Foundation has pledged to take responsibility to inform future speakers that they will be speaking to an audience diverse in race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, gender and class (ranging from no- to very-little-).

Most in the audience are now being treated by Dr. Jocyln Elders for the combination abuses of being insulted, exposure to unintended insensitive remarks for an extended period of time, being made uncomfortable, and actually having to witness first-hand awful heteronormative comments by Ms.Pinkett Smith. While none of these events would be cause for concern by themselves, the combined effects of such multiple outrages, coming on the heels of President Summer's outlandish statements about females and math are still unknown to the Harvard students. Harvard officials (other than that pig, President Summers) are keeping their fingers crossed. A few are even considering prayer.........Nah!

In order to discuss these concerns and ensure that such a misunderstanding doesn't occur again, Paulus said the BGLTSSRDCDSA and the Foundation are planning a joint breakfast of unfertilized eggs later this week.
